THE SUSPENSION footbridge (210 m span) overbridges the Drava
and connects the city centre with the recreational zone. The
single span bride, without intercolumns, enables free
navigation. The bridge tread, reinforced concrete plate 6 m wide is
suspended on the parabolic carrying steel-rope. From the static point of
view, the supporting system for the bridge is a
catenary, stiffened by prestressed tightening ropes blaced on the bottom side of the
plate bridge tread. This system resulted in an exceptionally rational
and attractive footbridge-which meets its purpose completely as
well as high aesthetic criteria. Characteristics:
- total built surface 1,440 m2,
- maximum span 210 m
- road width 5 m,
- height of steel towers 30 m,
- high aerodynamic stability.
