THE EXHIBITION area occupies the
largest part of the complex and is centrally positioned in
relation to all other supporting structures. It is
divided into four independent exhibition zones
resulting in flexibility of its use. Each zone has a covered and
an open exhibition area, in each zone a central
dominating pavilion is constructed. In the middle zone, around the central pavilion.
eight satellite pavilions were built which are by bridges connected to
the central zone, thus forming one functional homogenous unity. The
basic movement scheme is circular, thus being the
shortest and most comfortable. The star-like distribution of individual
pavilions allows for exceptionally good view of the exhibits on the fair.
§
the total area of the ground is 300 ha.
§
the total area of the complex is 120.000 m2
§
open exhibition area 611,734 m2,
§
area of the artificial lake 11.000 m2
§
Within the complex there are service connections for power
supply, water supply, sewage and telecommunication network. The
exhibition zones have a road network. for heavy traffic which
enables transport and delivery of exhibits. as
well as a ring road which is connected to the trans-African trunk highway.
§
Since the complex is built outside the city limits it has its
own power supply. Electricity is obtained via the transformer station
33/11 kV and a series of substations 11/'0.4 kV Which supply
electricity to consumers The water supply for the
buildings and gardens is provided by 6 deep wells and the water treatment
plant. The waste waters are completely purified before being
drained into the natural recipient.
